  Camp Claiborne website relaunch
Posted by: kkopacki - 05-02-2012, 04:48 PM - Forum: Announcements, Get Well Wishes & Farewells - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to announce the relaunch of the Camp Claiborne website.

It got derailed last fall because of school and work, but it's finally ready.

I've also just come back from a weekend visit out there and have collected a wealth of new information.

All to be posted soon.

Attention Michigan Vets - Voice of Warriors
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 05-01-2012, 06:42 PM - Forum: ALL Vets News - No Replies

http://voiceofwarriors.com/

MICHIGAN VETS: Voice of Warriors has a unique opportunity for a few combat veterans located in Michigan on 5/12-5/13. This event is open to veterans at least 70% service disconnected through the military/VA or those who have a Purple Heart and to those who have not had an opportunity to accompany VOW on an outing. If you are interested in attending this trip, please email our activities director - Mollie Grywalsky at: mollie@voiceofwarriors.com We cannot say what this event is until after the guests are chosen. I know this is different, but its going to be big. The atmosphere will be on the noisy side and the press will be in attendance. Serious inquiries only, please.

In May my best buddy from childhood and I are both going to turn 60, so we decided we should do something really memorable, and really fun. We are going to Seattle in the last week in May to ride on a real WWII B-17 Bomber, the Aluminum Overcast. I haven't done anything really fun for a long long time and I'm about ready to bust with exitement! About the only thing that could make it better is if we were up there and a couple of ME-109's came out of the sun.

Farewell 36th Engineers - Jack Stringer & Bud Heil
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 04-28-2012, 08:44 AM - Forum: Announcements, Get Well Wishes & Farewells - Replies (1)

Two Seahorses have passed. One of whom I met at the reunions. Here are the letters from Capt Fallon...

We lost another Seahorse, Jack Stringer from Michigan. He was not a regular correspondent but we regret his loss just the same as each member gets more valuable to us as our numbers thin. May he rest in Peace.

The worst part of my job of secretary, or whatever, is getting letters back. Recently we reported losing one of our fellows whose loss was regrettable even though he was not a regular "reunioner". Somehow though it is much worse when we know somone personally who has been a part of our annual gathering. Bud Heil from Maryland is no longer with us. I just got the word today. On the last letter I had written him that I hoped he could make it again. Alas the letter came back. He and his wife were both regulars until just a couple of years ago. May he rest in peace.

36 Engineers are rugged......John Fallon II. Capt. USA Ret.

Bud Heil is in back row, 2nd from right, next to John Fallon. It was an honor to have known you sir.
