This is just adorable. What a great school project. Found this by accident. Take the time to watch it. It gets an "A" in my book!

Special Birthday greetings to Tom Nokes - 36th CE
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 09-13-2011, 09:44 AM - Forum: Shooting the Breeze - No Replies

Tom Nokes is unable to attend our reunion this year, and it will be a much sadder place without him. His son sent the following request to me yesterday, and in turn I have forwarded it to everyone on my 36th Engineer mailing list.

I would love for everyone here to take a moment to wish Tom a very Happy Birthday, and I will share this link so Bob can show it to him this weekend, for the celebration at the nursing home.

Here's a pic of Colin, Tom and I, at last year's reunion and two more. You will be truly missed. Love you more than I can say. Happy Birthday dear friend!

:happybirthday: :happybirthday: :happybirthday: :happybirthday:

Tom's Birthday is Thursday the 15th of this month. We will have a party at the VA Nursing home in Kerrville TX on Sat the 17th.

I know he'd like to hear from many of his buddies in the 36th Engineers, Also from Col. Savre. (Don't have his e address) If you could notify several I know he'd be thrilled. He still can't believe a Colonel would speak to him, a PFC. I think it's very funny.

Thanks so much and Dad sends along his wishes for a great reunion!

Bob Nokes

Proud son of a PFC

Saturday Evening Post - The War Years, 1941-1945
Posted by: sixgun - 09-13-2011, 06:20 AM - Forum: WWII Books & Magazines - Replies (1)

During World War II the Saturday Evening Post was the most popular magazine in America. Its covers reflected the country's enduring committment to the war effort. These paintings are among the funniest and grittiest the Post ever published. They depict life on the Home Front, the problems of civilians adjusting to the military and vice versa, battlefield action and the machinery of war. The background music is "(There'll Be a) Hot Time in the Town of Berlin" performed by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.

THINGS THAT ARE DOWNRIGHT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY WHEN DRUNK: :drinkin:

1. No thanks, I'm married.

2. Nope, no more booze for me!

3. Sorry, but you're not really my type.

4. Taco Bell? No thanks, I'm not hungry.

5. Good evening, officer. Isn't it lovely out tonight?

6. Oh, I couldn't! No one wants to hear me sing karaoke.

7. I'm not interested in fighting you.

8. Thank you, but I won't make any attempt to dance, I have no coordination I'd hate to look like a fool!

9. Where is the nearest bathroom? I refuse to pee in this parking lot or on the side of the road.

10. I must be going home now, as I have to work in the morning.
