  Bullets Found in Gettysburg Tree
Posted by: Mary Zashin - 08-28-2011, 10:20 AM - Forum: The US Civil War - Replies (2)

From an Aug. 9th news story,

Workers trimming a storm-damaged oak tree on Culp's Hill uncovered projectiles lodged in the wood. The oak was one of the few remaining trees in the park that date from the battle. Sections of the oak will be preserved and placed in the museum.

Just got this from John tonight:

We are evacuating tonight because our home is just 150 yards from the beach. We are going to our Philadelphia house or our sons house in Delaware County we don't know which yet but at least we will be out of here. I hope our home is still here Monday.

Monument Honoring all Combat Veterans for Kansas

Thanks Rocky!

A-1-1-KS has been working with the State of Kansas in erecting a monument to honor all combat veterans in Gage Park Memorial, Topeka, KS. The project has been approved and will be dedicated on Veteran’s Day 2011. This Park has numerous monuments and gardens honoring veterans. Americanism lives in this part of the United States! Proof of being awarded the CIB is required if you want a CIB engraved on your brick. This is open to all Branches of the Service, veterans, active duty, family members “in memory of”, etc.
