This was a chance for the Group to meet the guy's who starred in the series, a very friendly bunch too . The photo is from Saturday morning 20th Aug. On the Sunday the cast are doing a sponsored parachute jump in aid of Jumping for Heroes, there is another jump being organized in the States, not sure when though. More photos to follow.

What song is this? A little lad said to his dad....
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 08-19-2011, 05:01 PM - Forum: Great Tunes from WWII - No Replies

Can someone please assist with this. Thanks, Marion

I found your WWII music website and was wondering if you could help me. My grandmother was from that time frame and she remembers the lyrics to a song but not the song title itself or the artist. And now I know the lyrics and I have been searching for a while now but I still continue to find nothing. If you could help that would be amazing.

The lyrics are as follows:

A little lad said to his daddy one night, why are you going away?

Why don't you stay here with mama and me?

We need you so much every day.

The man held the Lil lad close to his chest, you know I'll come back, never fear.

I want you to take care of momma for me and say for your daddy a prayer.

For duty has called and your daddy must got to fight the war o'er seas.

Yes daddy I know that is all very true but what about momma and me?

Here is a letter the Lil lad wrote to his daddy far over the seas;

Dear daddy, I love you and I miss you so much. Please come back to momma and me. May God keep my daddy and save him from harm and guide where ever he may be. And daddy I still say a prayer every night.

With love, from momma and me.

His daddy is over there somewhere I know.

He's fighting for you and for me.

The mother and lad is now sending a prayer, and so is the land of the free.

He'll fight until war crafts vanished the skies, and blue skies again are above.

And he will return from far over the seas to the home and the ones that he loves.

Thank you ever so much for even taking the time to read a stranger's letter. My name is Alyssa and I truly hope to hear from you soon and hopefully you will want to help and can. Thank you again. Bye.

~Alyssa

Larry:

Imagine my surprise when a large package arrived in the mail today, addressed from you. Upon opening I found the following.

I can't thank you enough. I got tears in my eyes when I showed it to hubby. That was so thoughtful and greatly appreciated!!!

I am scanning the unframed one, as I can't get the whole frame in the scanner to show everyone.
