My father was in the 1052nd Engineers Port Construction and Repair Group stationed in Australia in 1943-1944. Unfortunately I have found very little information about this unit anywhere on line. My fathers notes show them in Ahioma, Milne Bay, Finschhafen and Hollandia, New Guinea. I did find some photos of the unit on the Australian War Memorial website. Love your website.

My Uncle Clyde Vanden Bosch served with Company L, 387th infantry. He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star by Gen. Halsey on the battlefield. I have the article and a picture of him I would like to submit if possible.

I'm just a history nut, enjoying your stories. I have always been in awe of sappers/combat engineers, but my 37 years service were in field artillery and airborne electronics.
