I had the opportunity to meet Don Straith for a few minutes at the U of M Hospital. After our brief discussion I know why/how we won the war. Don and all the great folks like him are the answer. It is an honor to meet him!

It's wonderful to see that you posted my dear friend Ed Saraniero's Footnotes. Please keep his memory alive on your website. He passed away yesterday, at age 94, while I held his hand and prayed for him. He was a great man, who taught me much. May he rest in peace. Roman Pallone

Hello All! This is such an outstanding website and you have done a fantastic job on putting so much material together. I finished writing my mother's story "Through Innocent Eyes - The Chosen Girls of the Hitler Youth," and now, I am starting to write my father's story. He was in the 65th Infantry, 1280th Army Corp. of Engineers Battalion, Company C. I started a little FB page with the 1280th and I am gathering up more information to write his historical/fictional book. He has since passed away. I found your website and look forward to hearing from anyone who was in the same company. Thank you. Cindy

I`m looking for some information about Chester W Owen.
He was whit the 1219th Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon and killed in Malmedy
On December 24, 1944 - Christmas Eve – units of the 1219th responded to fires in Malmedy alledgedly set by aerial strikes by Allied aircraft. Whether going to, return from or fighting the fire is unknown as all records around that date, if created, no longer exist. During the going, the returning or the fire fighting Private Chester W. Owens was killed. His autopsy report says Massive Internal Injuries due to concussion. Whether a mortar or artillery round or a major vehicle mishap is unknown.
I`m the owner of a Dodge WC 52 and I’m looking markings for on my Dodge.
Do you know what kind of markings the 1219th had on their vehicles so I can put them on my Dodge.
Greetings Aad van der Horst

My father Lieutenant Myron J Barnett was in the 148th Engineer Combat Battalion, and served in Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany. He received a Bronze star for his work on a Bailey Barge Bridge over the Mouse River in Liege Belgium. I know he helped to build,or repair several bridges in France and Germany but do not know exactly where, also he went in on D-Day but not sure what beach I think it was Utah.

My father passed away in 1975 and I am trying to verify different places he was at during WWII. If anybody has any information they could share with me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Proud son of First Lieutenant Myron J Barnett

trying to find out information about my father David R. Williams who passed away several years ago. He was with the 160th combat engineers. He was from Indiana and Texas if that helps and served most of his time in Europe during ww2.

Could not be prouder of the 82nd and its storied history, including getting its start in the 39th. I am very interested in corresponding not only to help ensure my Soldiers are tied into the history of the unit while they continue to write new chapters. Thanks for this site and feel free to email me if there are ways we can collaborate.

Not my website but found a picture of "Holloway, Paul, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers" and thought of you to share it.

I tried to post it here but it won't paste or my skill set is poor...likely the latter.
