Comments: Wonderful work you've done researching your father's WWII history. Inspiration for my own efforts, which are just beginning. I recently fulfilled a promise I'd made to my mother, Norine Curry Comin, to visit the gravesite of my uncle, William James Curry (her younger brother), killed during the Italian Campaign in October 1943 during the bridging and crossing of the Volturno River. He was a Corporal in Company M, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, part of VI Corps. Seeking a PDF copy of a hardcopy article I have, titled The Volturno River Crossing, by James W. Dunn, led me to your website. I'm looking forward to registering and viewing the material you've assembled providing a resource for beginners such as myself!

Comments: My Pappap, my mom's father Edward E. Moore, served in the 4thCompany of the Army Corps of Engineers (his discharge says attached to 4th Co. 1st Gr [or 9r?] Bn. 158th G.B. for discharge), honorably discharged in Camp Sherman, Ohio on 23 Jan 1919. I am doing some research on his service as I have his papers, a beautiful felted cloth saying "Greetings from Camp 1918 Army Corps of Engineers" and the Bible he took with him. My regards to you in your search. On my fathers side, which settled in western PA after fighting in the Revolution, I am descended from veterans from all wars but Vietnam, even the War of 1812, Sp Am war, etc. Best to you, Suzanne
Comments: Joseph Szydlowski, top row, 1st on the left, was my husband's father. He settled in southern R.I. after the war, bought a tavern and restaurant, which he ran (along with his wife, Margaret) until he died in 1974.
Comments: My husband just buried his father. John Petrik Sr on March 17th.2017 he was 91 years old. I am actually looking at the the battalion of operations. 297th combat BN. What a piece of history on this paper dated May 2nd 1945 / 663rd ENGRS/ 4 5 I am guessing there was 44 operations.

Comments: My father, Glade S Wittwer, Sr, was in the 164th Engineer Combat Battalion, where he was the C.O. of B Company. He landed on Utah Beach on June 26, 1944. From then until the end of the war he served in France, Belgium, & Germany. For awhile, in Feb of '45 he was attached to the 1110th Engineer Combat Group. I believe he may have been in the 1175th Engineer Combat Group prior to that, but I haven't been able to confirm it. Pappy wasn't able to confirm much of the information himself. He spent a lot of time at the National Archives trying to research where the 164th was at any given time without much success. For many years, beginning in the '90s, he attended an annual reunion with the 164th. He died on March 31st, 1912, after a failed operation.
