Comments: My father, Andrew "Hank" Scolastico appears on pages 24 & 32 of:"The History of the 187th Engineer Combat Battalion". On 24, he's the only one with glasses & you can see the big part in his hair. On 32, he's the one kneeling w/ his M-1 at the Bougonville station. He had mentioned to me years ago that he was on the 50 cal the day the Luftwaffe attacked. I have his copy of the book.
Comments: Thank you so much for this website. I've been trying to find out as much as I can about my grandfather and other relatives who fought in the European Theater in WWII. My grandfather was in the 235th Combat Engineer Battalion, and got four bronze stars - he claimed he went into Germany and saw horrible things but wouldn't tell us any details. I haven't been able to verify some of the stories he told. Really hoping to connect with anybody who may know more about the 235th and where they went. I've got a few pictures I can upload and contribute.
Admin reply: We have quite a bit of info on that unit!

Comments: My father was Harry Oscar Peterson, the tentmate of Bill Gentry for the years they were in the Engineers. Over the ensuing years, we were able to visit with Bill, his wife, Colleen, and Peter * * * and wife, who all lived in Yakima, WA. I would be happy to share whatever I can to add to the background of this archive.
Please let me know how I might do that.

Comments: You have a great collection of photos! I only wished my uncles would have brought photos back with them. They were with 29th Infantry Division (Blue&Gray) from Omaha Beach to Germany. See the photo-gallery and also my YouTube in the 65th anniversary pics. Great site!

Comments: Hello, MARION! I've come across your site some years ago and and I like it very much. I just love WWII songs and I do enjoy listening them again (very different from the majority of today's MUSIC (?!)- or may be NOISE? I hope I can send you another donation in a short time. My best regards, Sylvio. (By the way, two uncles of mine served during WWII in Brazilian Navy, in the Atlantic, but they didn't get into battle, back then. I was a child then - to 8 years, during the war years).

Comments: I am just starting to search for records concerning my late husband, Melvin S. Rosenberry. I have his DD214, but little else so far. He was in the 208th Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII. He wouldn't talk about his experiences but he won 5 bronze stars. I know he saw a lot more than he talked about. If anyone knew him I would welcome any correspondence. This site is a great find!
