Comments: My father, Donald M. Perry from Olean, NY was a member of A Co, 1st BN, 506th PIR. He was wounded in Holland on Oct. 27th. I have been unable to find much information on his WWII involvement. I have checked with the VA and National Archives with no success. I just found this site and plan to do some research here. Hopefully, I will be able to find some helpful information on this site. Thank you for establishing the site.

Comments: Hello Maron, Just recently found your information on the 540h on the web. Have not had time to view all the information you have gathered and published about engineers but it is about time and much appreciated.
I spent a year in Vietnam with the 19th Combat enginers in 1967, the was assigned to the 540 Combat Engineer group in Germany from 1968 to 1969. I spent a few months in the 93rd Float Bridge co and beore I gkt out of the army, the 540th was replaced by the 7th Combat Engineer Bde. Quite an experience with related units from wwii.
Will review your information asap. Would love to chat by e-mail some day about engineers and their story.
Have fun at the reunion.
Larry

Comments: Just looking over site. My dad, Richard Kenneth Oliver was in the 36th in WW2 and Korea. Just glad someone is keeping it alive. Dad is 90 now, and in poor health. Has always been proud of his unit, but kept his mouth shut except to me and some of his old unit buddies. I had a friend in Battle, England that passed away last year, but showed me pictures from the museum and memorial they have tbere. Dad was stationed there prior to the Normandy invasion. Serial # 35759178 if anyone out there remembers Ken Oliver from West Virginia.
Admin reply: Just making sure, are we talking 36th Engineers, or 36th Infantry Division, for the engineer unit would not have been in England before Normandy. They were in Italy and made a landing in Southern France in Aug 1944.
Comments: My Dad was in WWII with the 805th engineers They used to have get togethers every year in different states. Would like to learn more about my dad. I do have some photos I think were taken on Sipan.
Comments: I am the middle daughter of Otis B. Compton, who entered the service as a "90 day wonder" 2nd Lt. and at war's end was Capt. I want to thank you so much for posting the map of the movements of the 1277th Engineer Combat Battalion. I am transcribing a few of his letters to home and it is so good to compare them (which are self-censored to prevent providing info to the enemy) with this objective info about where they were and what they were doing.

Comments: I recently was assigned to a base near Waldfeucht, Germany and discovered a memorial to 4 american soldiers that died there in 1945. I saw that one of the soldier's sons recently posted on here regarding this memorial-I would love to share pictures with you of the memorial/windmill. I came across this site while trying to google more information about these 4 men who lost their lives while serving their country.
